Average Weight of PAX: 180 lbs times gravity yields a force of 800.68 Newtons

Weight of Small Blocks: 21lbs times gravity yields a force of 93.4127 Newtons

Weight of Sand Bags: 50 lbs times gravity yields a force of 222.411 Newtons

 

18 Pax ran about 3 miles:

Negating the effects of friction, wind resistance, and flatulence we can simplify things by the following:

800N * 4830m = 3,864,000 J

 

Then there was the lifting:

Partner teams lifting Small (relative) blocks:

21 pounds 200 times total or 100 ea:

(93N * .61m)x100 = 5673 J

 

Partner Teams lifting Sandbags:

Estimated 300 m per lap for 12 laps

(222N * 300m) * 12 = 799,200 J

 

3,864,000+5,673+799,200 = 4,668,873 J / 45 Minutes = 1729.21 Watts of Power

One horsepower = 746  Watts

Therefore each PAX accomplished the work of 2.3 horsepower * 18 PAX = 41.4 Hp

800*30m = 24,000 J per trip

Approx 3 min per trip = 133.33 Watts * 18 PAX * 2 trips = 4,800 W / 746 W/hp = 6.43 Hp spent going up the #TowerofTerrible
