80’s Rock and Squats
The BackBlast:
Warm‑Up
SSH, Imperial Walkers, and Merkins to get things moving.
Brief disclaimer and reminder that today’s theme was 80’s rock and squats – more “Legs” by ZZ Top than anyone really asked for.
The Thang
80’s Field Ladder – “Welcome to the Jungle”
Mosey to the field.
At every 10 yards out to the 50: 5, 10, 15, 20 reps of called exercises – Squats, Lunges, and High Knees.
Mumblechatter kicked in early with the first “too many squats” comment; YHC took that as a five‑star review.
Rockpile Reps – “Rock You Like a Hurricane”
Mosey to the rockpile for OYO three rounds of:
Curls for the Girls
Overhead Press
Skull Crushers
Upright Rows
Guns N’ Roses vibes as the arms tried to keep up with what the legs already knew: this was not a ballad, this was a full guitar solo.
Golf Course Gains – “Don’t Stop Believin’”
Mosey to the golf course, trying not to bother the golfers while still cranking the tunes.
On the stairs: 5, 10, 15 Calf Raises on each stair group, followed by Bulgarian Squats 5, 10, 15.
The Stairway to Heaven felt a lot more like “Highway to Hell” for the calves and glutes.
Picnic Pain Station – “Another One Bites the Dust”
Mosey to the picnic area for three rounds of 5, 10, 15 of:
Dips
Incline Merkins
Step‑Ups
Upper body got some love, but the quads were still headlining the show, with step‑ups as the surprise encore.
Back to the Field – “Walk This Way”
Return to the field for more fun: bear crawl, then lunges, repeat to the 50.
The PAX did their best Aerosmith impression and “walked this way,” even if it looked more like a wobble by the end.
Mary / Finisher – “Livin’ on a Prayer”
Finished with ab work, alternating running and called ab exercises in sets of 5, 10, 15.
By the last round, we were halfway there, livin’ on a prayer, and searching for any core muscles that hadn’t already checked out.
Moleskine / CoT
Comment of the day: “Too many squats”…which is exactly how you know it was leg day and not just an 80’s greatest hits nostalgia tour.
As always, the crowd at Revolution made it fun – small band, big sound, and no one left before the final encore.
YHC encouraged the PAX to bring that 80’s rock mentality into real life: show up, turn the volume up, and don’t fade out when things get hard.
Closed in prayer, lifting up the men present, their families, and the ones who still need to be EH’d into the band.
Want a super short “promo line” version you can paste at the top or into Slack (one or two sentences that summarize the beatdown and theme)?
