Where were the old guys? Combine is a good place to find some grizzled F3 veterans (usually). Definitely some vets today but light on the grizzle. No one over 49. That sounds old when I read over the sentence. We did get the new-ish to CLTMetro (Swingline - Raleigh vet) and a recent FNG (In Your Pants with his 4th post).
What we did (Reader's Digest version):
Lots of lunges with KB - overhead, over shoulder, one hand carry
Sprints with hand release merkins before/after each rep
Long KB set - do not put down your kettlebell. Included 2h swings, 1h swings, snatches, clean/press, row, and a bunch of goblet squats
Sprints - plank/mtn climbers, peter parker in between
Back to KB set - KB squat/curl/press; Circle OH press / Figure 8s
5 rounds of 2 minute drill - 5 burpees/10 snatches (5R/5L)/15 mtn climbers (1-1)/20 2h swings
The last 10 minutes are a killer here.
In Your Pants is relatively new to F3 and does not yet have a KB. He did bring a dumbbell of some unknown weight that he borrowed from the YMCA (possibly?) when they closed down earlier this year. His attempts to score a real KB have met with the Covid-19 reality of toilet paper and workout gear hoarding. The KB secondary market is clearly in a bubble right now. Cheaper per pound to invest in a mine somewhere and forge your own. Anyway bring your extra KB (plus some sanitizer or other cleaning product) to share with In Your Pants next time.
M-Shank took over the grinder at Latta on Friday AMs - leaving us to play in the street. Which seems about right. Worked out perfectly for what we needed to do. Good seeing Uncle - have not worked out with him in person in forever (he leads a good Zoom workout).
I think Combine still needs Qs. Let's do it again soon.
