The BackBlast:
An odd start this am at Latta. At 7:00, only 5 gathered at the pavilion. Today’s lead, Rube, and site Q, Skyline, were not amongst the 5.
Leaderless, we took off anyway. Luckily, Rube appeared right on time for him – 2 minutes late, to take command. Eventually, Dos Equis and Oswald joined, then finally Khloe, to get us to 9.
What We Did –
– Mosey up Park to Southend. With a stop at Cleveland for SSHs, then dips at Flower Child.
– up Rail Trail with stops at Bland and Carson stations for more dips.
– up stairs at Morehead Office building, then more dips at bench.
– mosey to Morehead, then Tryon and into Uptown and gather at Ally parking deck for some Mary, then upstairs to top of deck.
– wall sits and merkins, back down stairs and head to Tryon, left on Stonewall (Brooklyn Village) past stadium and gather at the stairs/ramp next to stadium. Pull ups on handrails – Jack Webb style – up to 10.
– Backtrack to Ally deck with more dips at Jenny’s Ice Cream.
– Up stairs to top of deck. Wall sits
– back down and cross 277 to Morehead, then down to rail trail. Mary to gather six.
– continue down rail trail to Carson, left towards YMCA parking deck. Up stairs and more wall sits at top.
– Cross to other side of deck and back down stairs to Templeton. Mosey over to Myrtle for squats.
– up Myrtle with 5 merkins at each parking sign/post to top. Some quick Mary and then head to grinder.
– finished with air raids and pointed takeout by 40 Thieves.
Moleskin –
– Rube’s Q recipe usually includes high mileage and venturing into uncharted territory. Throw in a birthday Q, and the 6 mile workout was not out of the question. It’s probably why Sheep didn’t show. Luckily, we got a kinder gentler Rube who led the pax thru familiar territory for only about 3.8ish miles.
– The 9 pax included Rube, Clipboard, Glad Hander, 40 Thieves, Oswald, Khloe, Cream Cheese, Sauté and Dos Equis.
– With Sauté in attendance, The NINER chant got louder today. Rube decided to shorten our cadence and end at 8, but Sauté was a step ahead of everyone and started the Forty – NINER count when we hit 4.
– No Tassels. Once again a big road trip followed by a disappointing loss. I heard the Commander fan base flexed their muscles and took over the best bar/restaurant in Green Bay – Cheddar’s. Let’s hope Tassels made it back in 1 piece.
– Someone asked about Boat Misser. It’s been a while. He is now 30 lbs heavier and is a heavy smoker, but enjoying Pittsburgh and feels right at home there.
– Girardi joined us at coffee where Clipboard gave us the definition of turf toe. Next week, I will ask Clipboard to explain Plantar Fasciitis.
– The Revolution group must have had quite the workout. No coffee at common market – they had a table full of Modelo tall boys.
– Khloe has the lead next week. So the average age of the pax maybe bit lower.
– Enjoy the weekend – quite the streak of beautiful weather in Queen City. Let’s hope it lasts.
