Phoenix – Low and slow, till it reaches 165F
AO: The Phoenix
When: 11/24/2025
QIC: Scrooge
Number of Pax: 6
Pax Names: Chimay, Clipboard, Doobie, Marilyn, Maybe, scrooge,
The BackBlast:
Just in case you didn’t know how to cook a turkey.
We launched at 5:30 on the dot with some of the PAX mumbling about how I stole this week’s Q from Doobie (I did. He Q’s much more than he probably needs to. I thought that I was doing him a favor). Up to Euclid for 20 DC (double count) SSH’s. Marilyn catches us there, as he was able to spot a glowing, green dickband that helped to guide him through the Gloom. Add 10 double-count Merkins and we are off down Euclid, cross Morehead (“Did you just call an audible or was this part of the plan?”). Stop at Royal Ct for some LBC’s and Flutters. Up off your 6 and down to Civil Street – dead end… Good, that makes it interesting. Off into the weeds and there is a nice gravel hill to go down… Chimay passes by “let’s do this again” – good idea. Back up and back down. Through the weeds and on to Baxter Street where YHC kinda realizes that he is lost. Run to some steps and do 10 DC Dips. 10 DC Derkins. Up and down to the end of the road – a sign for McDowell – Okay. Over back to Morehead. Down to Kenilworth & over to the Atrium’s Big Deck. To the top where Clipboard has been holding a plank for 10 minutes while waiting for us. Good, as we are going to plank for a bit more. Back up and down to the bottom, over to Romany and back towards home. Maybe thinks that I’m too slow and decides to taunt my by running backwards. One stop at an intersection for some Merkins & back up to Mosey some more. Down onto the path that winds through the park, which we can barely see. Finally outta the trees and into the grass and THAT is where YHC almost loses his left eye to a stray branch. SMH… Up to Park Avenue and sprint to Winthrop and back.
– Convergence at AG on Turkey Day, 7am.
– Muffins & Mimosas at the Nordstrom’s parking lot after the Turkey Trot
– Come to the Table – 12/17/25, 6pm at the Duke Mansion. Free to attend, though donations are appreciated. Open bar, apps and slider bar. Yes, we need to cover the cost of the event, but after that, the proceeds stay local (the Rescue Mission)
– Keep Clipboard’s NBA friend in your thoughts, as he just learned that he has cancer
Have a safe and wonderful holiday!
