The BackBlast:
There’s a feeling you get in your gut when you get out of bed at 4:40 and check the weather conditions and realize that what you laid out the night before for the beat down won’t be enough. You have to add another layer. Even more hard to swallow is recognizing that you got to get out your mittens.
And it’s the Mittens that make the difference. Nothing fights cold weather like the mitten. So I added the layer grabbed the mittens and headed off to Diamond Head. Hoping that there would be at least one other pax there. I’ve had that experience before where you show up for a beat down and there’s nobody there and I have to tell you it hurts me inside when that happens.
But that didn’t happen today because the Diamond Head pacx are strong and there were three to join me for the beat down. Here’s what we did : Quick warm up of the standard and then headed down to the basketball court for 3 rounds of three exercises. Round 1 we did goblet squats in the middle Baryshnikov’s on one side of the basketball court and Bulgarian split squats on the other. Counted it down from 10 to one doubling up on the goblet squats in the middle with our bells. Did a round of Tabata Mary and then did the same thing again with tricep extensions in the middle incline merkins on one side dips on the other. Another round of tabata Mary and then time check meant we couldn’t keep going the way we were going. So we finished up with some classic kettlebell exercises of lawn mowers hammer curls upright rows and teapots before it was time to head back for COT.
The best part of this workout was probably that I forgot my speaker and had to depend on Grapevine for his speaker and playlist. As you are probably aware Grapevine is acutely dependable in this area. So we had a great playlist. We also had some pretty good mumble chatter around thermostat’s upbringing in New Hampshire and Mountain Mama’s thoughts on Pop Warner football coaches that get ejected.
Hope to see all of you at Come to The table Wednesday night.
The Reverend Flo-Rida.
