Boys in the ‘Hood (or “PAX in the rapidly appreciating neighbor’hood of Ashley Park”)

AO: Blizzard

When: 06/05/2023

QIC: Scrooge

Number of Pax: 5

Pax Names: Evil Scout, Merrill, Rose, scrooge, Yuengling,

The BackBlast:

My last post for 12 days was today, as Jen & I are about to head to Scotland , and I was happy to see that nobody had claimed the Q at Blizzard. Concrete blocks are on the menu – and why carry one when you can carry two?
Quick Warm-A-Rama:
10 Hop Straddle Sides
Plank Position – Grapevine Stretch starting on the right. Flapjack
10 merkins in cadence

Time to wakeup – go and grab a block. Or two. Farmer-carry to the BBQ King.
Evil Scout is wondering if it’s possible to beat Rose’s last Q here where we did 400 merkins. Fine. I’ll give your chest a small rest. We’ll start with shoulders (possibly a mistake?). 10 Carolina Dry Docks at each street light till we reach the intersection. Yuengling asks why we brought the blocks if we are doing Dry Docks sans block. “Because they come with us”. There’s about 5 lights to Greenland (the street. Not the country). Last 10 CDD’s at the intersection.
Grab the blocks and let’s go deeper into the ‘hood. 20 Big Boy Sit-Ups with feet in the block at each street light. It’s discussed how Yuengling forced me to do a beer bong at Sir Edmund Halley’s (it was actually just a nice dinner with the M’s), after which TigerDawg and I enjoyed a beverage in the yard while listening to the throw-down going on over the fence at Merrill’s (Graduation party? High School graduation party? Merrill looks like he’s 40… Who’da thunk that he was 47 and has an 18yr old kid? The things that you learn in the Gloom). Again – about 5 street lights.
You know the drill – Blocks. Grab them and head down Marlowe Ave. 15 Derkins on the blocks at each street light. Stack the blocks if you can. Rose reminds Evil that he has the Q at Punch Bowl tomorrow night. Evil doesn’t remember signing up for it because, like Vin Diesel in Fast 15, he “lives life at a quarter mile at a time” (reciting movie lines – hanging with Beethoven too much? Or maybe Dredd?)
Next intersection and we’ll do 15 squats at each light.
Turn right on Camp Greene. 10 Bicep Merkins on the blocks. A bit more traffic now, as the city seems to be waking up. Some PAX are on the sidewalk, Rose and I are in the street. Rose asks Evil to carry him back if he gets “Lieutenant Dan-ned” by a car. “Sorry, brother, but I already have two blocks to carry.” SOL, Rose…
Last block – 25 flutters at each light. Mid-way down the block, we start to pass the GrayBar building which is one of the spots that Evil LOVES doing Merkins at. For the rest of that story, you’ll need to join us over at Blizzard.
At the last street light, Rose notices a 9mm case on the side of the road. Merrill notices about 9 more. Niiiiiiiice… Whose turf are we on? During our last 25 flutters, I comment on what we are wearing: Merrill is in RED shorts; Evil has a BLUE shirt on; and while the color of Rose’s hoody doesn’t matter with regards to us getting ‘capped’, it is a hoody.
“Dude, it’s Summer…”
“It was only sixty degrees when I left the house”
“And??”
Head for home.
20 Hop Side Straddles back at the DQ lot.

32lbs in each hand for 1.2 miles. Not too shabby.

COT – we say our goodbyes, as I won’t see these jerkies for another two weeks. Yuengling takes us out with some solid words of wisdom
