The BackBlast:

Having spent the last couple of days studying the meteorological prediction models I realized that there was a good chance that dreaded rain may settle in on fashionable South Charlotte and make life at ALS a little uncomfortable. Thanks to the generosity of CMS, ALS has a built in shelters from the rain which Q’s take advantage of with “dry package” workouts as Grapevine calls them. Upon arriving at the AO this AM, your QIC had to make a decision to take the pax far afield away from the shelter or hang around. And a wondering we went and here is what we did.
The lower Selwyn track and basketball court area has been redone and Core is indeed grateful for the opportunity to run and not twist an ankle. It is those little things in CORE life for which we are thankful. After a little warmup we headed down the new entrance road to the court area where we did Makhtar N-Diayes and a couple of rounds of partner runs/sit ups and LBC’s around the new track. Great job, CMS getting the track back to pseudo-Olympic shape. From there we wondered over to the adjacent field and did a few partner rounds of merkins and way backs. It was noted that the last time we ventured to this area there was a deer caught in the fence. Most of us thought this was a typical deer trick to get us to close so that they could steal our deer feed that I sure everyone had on them, so we were not going to fall for it if the deer tried that trick again.
After a few rounds on the field we made a quick stop at the basketball court for a John Travolta/ J Lo combo and then up the hill to the dumpster area which I am sure has a name but I don’t know what it is.
We did some quality wall work followed by a round of step ups, dips and derkins in that strange outdoor lunch area that I doubt if anyone uses except us.
From there we hightailed it back to the rails for inboard and outboards followed by Mary to close us out. Final entertainment was provided in typical Core fashion by the numerous dogs that follow the pax around. Today’s featured canine was Wahoo’s dog. Thanks, Wahoo’s dog for posting, and making our numbers look better.
No big announcements except for MIP, a quality workout that we all should participate in at some time in our F3 lives.
The playlist today was a mix of stuff that I like ranging from Southern Rock (Charlie Daniels and 38 Special) to arena rock (Def Leppard and Ozzy Osbourne) with a great cut from the Culture Club thrown in for diversity’s sake. #openminded. Plus, they were actually great musicians who deserve some CORE airplay. Well, maybe not.
Thanks again fellows for letting me lead you around in the mist this morning. Makes you feel alive being out exercising with a great group of guys regardless of the weather.
SYITG,
Hallpass
