The BackBlast:

Lot’s of chatter this week via BB’s about how lame Metro workouts are coming. So I decided to bring a crew up from Area 51 (really no man’s land as we are between Fairview and 51) to check things out. Hotbox must not be what the chatter is about as I’ll stack a Hardcore beatdown with any other (assuming you KB is 30lbs or more, sand bag is at least 40lb, and ruck has at least 20lbs). We did have 4/11 from the South so maybe that’s why it was so hard (maybe 5/11 as Stinger may not be considered Area 51).

In my view, a man needs to experience all the different workouts before he gets any credibility in ranking them but I’m weird that way. I used to run fairly far in 45 minutes with some COP along the way and they can be brutal. I don’t like running as much now (hips and knees don’t like it) so I have transitioned to intermixing heavy with boot camp. For me, heavy leaves a longer lasting scar as more muscles get impacted. But to each his own.

The Thang:
Snoop – Standard warm-up with SSH’s, ruck presses and pulls, flutter with KB up, and sand bag works (sit ups and lifts/tosses).

Hollins – Speed up the pace with suicides down and back the parking deck with sand bag and ruck (about 10 total legs with last leg all the way down to other end). Partner up with partner 1 taking rug and 2 sand bags up to top deck over to other side and back down to start with partner 2 doing KB squats, pulls, and overhead presses. Three trips around was brutal.

Chelms – Mosey out to back parking lot. A little mary in cadence followed by overhead gear haul one piece at a time down to next lamp post with 5 burpees each trip (3 trips and 15 total burpees for those who got a liberal arts degree). More mary followed by sand bag throw and burpee after each throw until you get the sand bag down to the speed bump. Team even with sand bag hand off while sitting and then run down to end of line. Keep moving all the way down to speed bump (Bad guys one but they had 5 guys so I disqualified them). Finish up with gear haul back down to starting line.

Pledge of allegiance and COT

NM
Welcome FNG now known as Sideway (birth name Michael Wilburn (Later thought a better name would be Sarah – he is 51 and his first child is in the oven). That was a tough one to start out with so props for making it out.

Any complaints about overtime can be directed to Snoop as he went over by a few minutes. I was right on the dot on my allotted time. Snoop also held class on the F3 mission and core principles. Our group got an A so maybe we can skip class next time.
