The BackBlast:

16 PAX joined me (Kodak) as I celebrated finishing my tour of all 61 Charlotte Metro (listed) workouts by holding my first Q at Punchbowl. Thankfully Gepetto agreed to co-Q with me (since it’s a little bit of a challenge to Q a workout you’ve never attended). GAAP brought some whinging but also an FNG, so all was good in the world.

We started with an easy mosey and then warm-ups (side straddle hops, Imperial Walkers, ‘Mericans, Mountain Climbers and Flutters). We did a lot of sets of 15 because I kept forgetting to give the verbal signal to end at 10. Oh well, the group could handle EC.
Next was a two-column Indian Run to the Mushrooms for step ups, dips, Bulgarian split-squats and more step ups (with calf raises at the top). Pretty much everyone was trying to look their best in front of all the young ladies strolling up and down the Rail Trail. To help with that, I called for a Bataan Death March to the Trolly Barn – 2 burpees and then chase to the front of the column.
At the Trolly Barn, Gepetto took over and we did partner sets – Derkins, (more) Step Ups and Monkeyhumpers while the other partner sprints to the Trolly wall and back (and, of course, does 3 Burpees because GAAP didn’t do any during the Death March – group punishment works).
Next were partner chases – one with burpees (for GAAP) to Sycamore and then with Jumping Stars to the Mushrooms, where we did some good Core work. Finally it was time to head back so we formed a dignified column of two and moseyed (Indian Run style) back to the rally point where we had time for a few stretches before COT.
COT welcomed FNG “Mount Olive” to the PAX (sorry Scrooge) and then Fletch took us out with a great prayer. Afterwards, there was beer.
I can’t say enough how much it means to me to share this day and this accomplishment with so many brothers. Thank you all – everyone one who has encouraged me and helped me through a lot of tough workouts. I couldn’t have done it without you.
