The BackBlast:

The Over The Hills (OTH) King of the Hills team was a super selective group of HIM. 1st: your year of birth had to be <=1960. 2nd: you had to occasionally lose your senses during COTs when YHC would catch you off guard and thank you for joining the OTH KOH team. You might have thought "I don't remember HC'ing to whatever this thing is that Carrier is talking about". And soon after, Carrier is emailing you the details of training runs. At this point, most pax start coming up with all the reasons they can't do it. Looks like a lot of Metro pax this year, versus previous years, had lots of reasons for not participating. YHC had told the OTH team how much fun the event was in the past seeing other teams out on the courses training and completing the event. Instead, cumulatively, the OTH team didn't see but maybe 1 other KOH participant. And truly the OTH's time on the course was longer than any other team this year (is there an award for the longest cumulative time?).

Key take aways: each of the 6 OTH members completed each of the 3 legs successsfully. No OTH member was injured during the event. Seeing the legs of the course ahead of time is not required and in some cases it may be better for some pax not to know what's ahead of them. Double & Triple Respects can get it done. (But are also smart enough to not compare their times with non-Respect's times.)

The big prize for the OTH members is that when they return to their regular *CORE* AOs, they will be able to share stories of their victory over age, decay, lack of sleep, dehydration, aches, and pains. To mimic NASCAR, we want to thank FrogGel and Krispy Kreme for helping to keep the OTH wheels rolling, our support teams, families, little baby Jesus, and finally our moms, who without them we could not do the CSAUP things we do. So until next year, SYITG.

  1. Shout out to Carrier for motivating us Respects to get us over the hills. Got to further and start relationships with a bunch of great guys and gain a sense of satisfaction for doing something really crazy. Thanks for your leadership, Carrier. Now excuse me while I change my contact information and disappear from your sight for a while.
