See below for an update on Double Trouble, his battle with COVID, and how you can help. As of Friday Morning January 15th he is showing some improvement.

TAPs for the DT and the Vaughn Family,

As some of you may have already heard, Country Day Parent Steven Vaughn ’84 (dad to Allen ’22 and Anne Lee ’24 & also the 2016 Alumni of the Year) is in the ICU at CMC Pineville for Covid. Steven’s wife Caroline and daughter Anne Lee are also getting over their own bouts with Covid. Sadly, we were beyond discouraged to learn that Steven had to be put on a ventilator on Tuesday afternoon. Steven’s overnight nurse reported on Wednesday that he had an “uneventful” night — we are taking this news as a win.
As parents who care deeply about this wonderful family, we wanted to let you know that we thought it would be great if the Country Day community — especially the families in Allen and Anne Lee’s grades — could show an outpouring of love to the Vaughn family. The Vaughns would deeply appreciate any prayers/well wishes that you can send in their direction.  In addition, if anyone in your family wishes to send a card to the Vaughns, here is their address:

3927 Chevington Road Charlotte, NC 28226

Caroline Vaughn reports that they do not need any food at this time; therefore, we thought it might be a nice gesture to send money for gift certificates for dinners in the future. If you are interested in helping with a financial donation, Ashley Robertson (mom to John ’22 and Caroline ’24) is going to buy Door Dash/Postmates/Grubhub gift cards with any contributions that we Venmo her.

Ashley will deliver the gift cards to the Vaughns. Ashley’s Venmo is @Ashley-Robertson-27

Due to the Extended Healing Timetable that Steven is facing, we are not putting a deadline on donations. We wholeheartedly believe that the nicest thing you can do for a family is to make them dinner when the going gets tough. Ideally, the Vaughns will be able to use our gift cards now or once Steven is in rehab.   Thank you so much for all that you do to make our school a true Community of Caring.

Please feel free to share this email with anyone else who you may think would be interested in helping the Vaughn family.   Kind

Regards,
Beth Lawing, Ashley Robertson, Tracy Larson, Aviva Stein, and Ashley Kleiderer
